Somatic competencies for coaches: recognising stress responses online

When coaching online, we often rely on a small window — just a head and shoulders view — to tune into a client’s inner world. But beneath the words, the body is always speaking.

This 90-minute workshop is designed to sharpen your ability to recognise stress responses in an online setting — where cues can be subtle, and presence requires more nuance.

We’ll explore how acute and chronic stress responses show up somatically, and how to recognise nervous system dysregulation even when you can't see the whole body. From tone of voice to micro-movements, posture to pacing, we’ll build your capacity to observe with attunement and respond with skill.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How stress impacts the nervous system — physiologically and behaviorally

  • How to recognise signs of dysregulation in your client’s story, voice, and body language

  • How to track your own nervous system responses as a coach

  • Practical co-regulation techniques to support clients through strong emotional or physical reactions

Whether you’re a seasoned coach or just starting out, this is an opportunity to deepen your somatic literacy and refine your capacity to hold space — online.

This workshop forms part of the broader Somatic Competencies for Coaches programme, but can be attended as a standalone session.
